Servite HS produced a huge victory over the weekend, defeating Los Alamitos 57-22 to win the OC Coast Conference in Southern California's Varsity White division.
As a result, Servite will move ahead in the quarterfinals, hosting Corona Centennial. For Servite, fullback Mikey Matthews was a revelation. He scored four tries for the Friars. One of those was a 40-meter run right off the kickoff, and another was a 65-meter race through the Los Al defense.
Lock John Niklas scored two tries, capping off the Servite lineout-and-maul.
"Inside the 22-meter line our game plan worked out well," said Servite Coach Manoa Pouono. "Our team executed our game plan very well."
