The Big Rivers Conference has its finalists after Aquinas and Marian won their semifinal games over the weekend.

Marian defeated Iowa Central CC 40-11. Marian Head Coach John Harley had wanted his side to control the narrative physically, and they did that.Overall, Marian has been very solid, losing only three games, all to high-quality opponents—Lindenwood, Walsh, and St. Bonaventure.

What they need now is to be sharpened up enough to take down the likes of Bonnies.

For Aguinas, this has been their best season probably since the program went to a school-supported status.

And this was perhaps their best game, as Aquinas dismissed a tough Indiana Tech side (who had a bit of a breakout season) 50-13.

Jacob Easterling and Jacob Inman both scored two tries in the match as Aquinas improved to 5-1; their only loss was to Davenport.

Head Coach Lance Hohaia said, however, that the team played in a complacent manner early in the match.

"We didn’t have a lot of momentum in the first 25 to 30mins, and we were out-enthused," said the coach. "But we found our rhythm and got back on track before the end of the half. Our decision-making with the ball in hand will need to be better next week and our first-up tackles, we slipped off a few crucial ones today. We’ll be addressing that and fine tuning a few others, next week."

But in the second half Aquinas took control. Easterling was very good at flanker while lock Austin Maczuga had a big game and scored a try. Inman at flyhalf ran the attack well while Xavier Tito-Nekeare, Trayvon Mathis, and Liam Scott-Pages all touched down.

These two teams will meet up for the conference title next week in Chicago. However, both are in the NCR D1 playoffs now, with the winner of the final getting s bye to the quarterfinals.
