Majestics Looks for More Hardware at NAI 7s

The Majestics teams marches into the NAI 7s this month with a three-fer on their minds.

The Utah-based girls program won the Utah state championship in May, defeating United in the final.

Not only did they defeated United 33-26 to take that championship, they also beat Mountain Ridge to take the Tier 2 championship.

All of that followed on an excellent showing at the Tropical 7s, beating Midwest Thunderbirds 36-21 to win the Girls U18 bracket.

So can they make it three out of three with a win in the NAI 7s?

With a nice combination of speed and power, and with plenty of elusiveness coupled with good passing skills, Majestics has the ability and the depth to win at NAI as well.

They will bring the same team that won Tropical to NAI 7s, and will back that up with a U16 group that was the mainstay of their state Tier 2 championship team.

"It has definitely been a great season for Majestics," said program director Letizia Wolfgramm. "The secret is a combination of many things. Some things that stand out are our amazing coaching staff and the players trusting the process and playing as a team—this team has many valuable players, but they understand that it’s a team effort and that helps them overcome."

They will have their work cut out for them with top programs such as The Rugby Advantage (bringing three sides) California Grizzlies, Utah Cannibals, Atlantis, SacPal Amazons, Pesefika, and Badger Rugby Academy to contend with.

Dealing with all of that is simple, said Shawnee Asiata.

"As a team if feel like we do better when we're having fun," she explained. And they seem to be enjoying themselves now.
