Louisville defeated Bowling Green 32-22 in the MAC D1AA final Saturday.
In a classic rivalry match the Cardinals won the back-and-forth tussle with a snappy offense that created chances but also saw some of those chances fall away due to handling errors.
Those errors also set up chances for BGSU.
Flyhalf JB Meier was outstanding for Louisville, kicking two penalties late in the match to seal the victory and ensure the Cardinals had a two-score lead as the game wound down.
Louisville's offense has been firing this year, with an average per-game score of just under 57, while and a points-against average of just over 10.
They have now booked a spot straight into the quarterfinals of NCR's D1AA playoffs, while Bowling Green will be in a play-in.
