Doylestown continues to lead the way in Rugby Pennsylvania's D1, but there are a number of contenders in D2.

Doylestown defeated LaSalle College High School on a cold, blustery SUnday.

This was a well-played and fast game and Doylestown had to work hard for their tries.

Doylestown took a 12-0 lead into the halftime break, and they scored two tries in the first 10 minutes of the second half to essentially put it out of reach for LaSalle.

However, the hosts mad it a game, scoring three tries late to close the gap to 26-17.

Hooker Marco Burns scored two tries for Doylestown was named player of the game. Aaron Kelly and Liam Hoey also scored tries while Jamie Weird added the extras.

With that victory, Doylestown has defeated one of the teams trying to hail them in and the club now moves to 4-0.

Meanwhile, in D2, Montgomery Bucks, Elizabethtown, and North Pitt all came into the weekend undefeated. All three came in favored.

But the game of the week had to be 3-0 Berks County vs 3-0 Downingtown. Both teams have been in D1 previously but moved to D2 because of a variety of reasons. Berks struggled with numbers and performance last year, and turned it around by essentially focussing on the more dedicated younger players and on the fun aspect of palying together during the fall 7s season.

Fall 7s was also a momentum-builder for Downingtown.

Playing 7s, and attendance at some talent ID camps actually got some Berks players a USA U18 look. Among them Bryan Henry, who has been a powerful physical presence with a high work rate. He crovers the field well, plays defense, and leads by example. Matt Lis and Kaiden Boyer are also in the U18 mix.

Henry was a big part of the Berks 19-7 win over Downingtown, They controlled possession well and probably felt that they could have scored more. Downingtown defended well for long portions of the game, but the Berks physicality started to take a toll.

So Berks is now 4-0 in D2, leading the Suburban Conference.
