LAI Kicks Off LA Sevens Rugby
With 200 teams at the LA Invitational the LA Sevens weekend, the action was pretty furious throughout.
Here are some notes:
The Boys Elite was pretty tight at the top. With teams in pools of five, but only playing three pool games, EIRA Navy, EIRA Red, and Maui were al 3-0. Atlantis was a close 2-1, losing a tight game with EIRA.
Japan and the USA Falcons went 3-0 in the Men's Elite and looked like they were close to the standard of the LA Sevens international event.
"We want to put in that work and want to push to get to that level," said Dmontae Noble. "We've been training with the experienced players and they have worked with us to make us better and help us."
Aaron Gray concurs.
Atlantis girls looked very good in the Girls Elite, but there were some other dominant performances, such as Belmont Shore boys, who looked unstoppable, and the South Bay Spartans girls were also excellent. We saw the San Diego Legion Academy team in action, bring a new wrinkle to the men's competition.
