The Los Angeles Invitational tournament has released some additional details for the event that serves as a satellite tournament to the LA SEVENS HSBC Sevens World Series event Feb 29-March 1 2019.

More than two dozen brackets will be part of the LAI, which will be held at two venues with professionally-managed grass fields in the Los Angeles area.

Games will be Friday, Feb. 28 all day, and then the early part of the day on Saturday, Feb. 29.

Friday, Feb 28 Details

The LAI games will be held 8AM to 5PM at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, Calif.

This complex has up to 20 grass fields where all of the games will be held, from youth to adult elite. You might have a middle school 7s tournament game going on at one field, and a major college matchup on the next field. The tournament will be a rugby festival for all ages, and the tournament will provide medical support and food trucks as well as other amenities.

Saturday, Feb 29 Details

The fields on the Dignity Health Sports Park campus will be used for Saturday. That way teams can play their Saturday games and walk right to the LA Sevens tournament in the main stadium.

There will be bag drops for teams that want to see the tournament, meaning that teams don't have to return to hotels before going to see the World Series games.

Teams will enjoy playing rugby on very high-quality grass fields in a festival atmosphere. The city offers plenty of activities for any age, from Disney World to nightlife, the beaches, and Hollywood.

And after playing, everyone can go see the LA Sevens World Series event with the biggest stars in the Olympic version of the game.

Discounts On Hotels, Tickets

Hotels: Teams will be offered a discounted registration fee for staying at a Marriott brand hotel in the Los Angeles area, where they will also be offered a significant discount on room rates. The hotels will be offered in the Torrance/South Bay (beach) area, the Irvine area right by the Great Park location, and the Anaheim area, which is directly between Dignity Health Sports Park and the Orange County Great Park. This will give teams the option to choose their own destinations. Team hotel links will be provided in the coming week.

Tickets to the LA Sevens: Participating teams who stay at a partner hotel will also be offered a heavily discounted ticket to attend the Los Angeles 7’s World Series event at Dignity Health Sports Park. Exact ticket prices to be announced shortly.

Registration Fees

Base fee for any team (covers two-day tournament): $400

Discounted fee for local teams (teams based in California): $300

Discounted fee for teams staying at a Marriott partner hotel: $250

Fee for Beach Rugby (1-day tournament): $300
