BC High defeated a strong St. John's Prep side in impressive fashion Wednesday night, beating SJP 50-14 in difficult conditions.

It was wet and ball-handling wasn't easy, but BC High put together their attack nicely. Flyhalf Orlando Isturis scored two tries and was good on five of seven conversions for 20 points. Hooker Cillian O’Callghan also scored two tries.

"Our defensive effort set the tone, which I am proud of," said Head Coach Paul Carty. "Line speed and tackling were excellent. I thought our kick chase worked well together too."

All of that also allowed BC High to attack wider when it was available.

"We are really trying to make sure we attack the whole field," said Carty. "We did that well against Prep."

Next week BC High hosts rivals Belmont HS, a team that has had some injuries but always brings a tough performance.

Unfortunately, things slow down after that as some late schedule moves by Milton HS will leave BC High and Xaverian without a game.

Right now, Milton is #3 in the MIAA Power Rankings, with BC High about to move past St. John's after last night's result. How opting to play some D2 opposition will affect all of that remains to be seen.

Xaverian Brothers and Belmont HS are chasing after Milton for a top-four spot.
