Still on the winning track, UC Davis is not taking anything for granted in the Pacific West Conference.

The Aggies took care of business against Fresno State last week, with freshman wing Bradley Maples making a nice impact as he grows within what is generally a pretty experienced team. Led by hooker Cole Collings and No. 8 and captain Harrison Morrow up front, Davis has been able to set a platform to allow their backs to express themselves. It's working, but Coach Kal Incendy is sounding cautious as they look to this weekend's clash with Nevada.

"We're really only halfway to our goal," said Incendy. "And we've got some tough opposition coming up. Nevada has one of the best defenses in the league. They pulled off a really nice result against UC Santa Cruz. So we can't take anything for granted."

Nevada did indeed beat UCSC 32-17 over the weekend, and the Wolf Pack's 84 points allowed is better only by Chico State (81) and Davis (62). Chico State, of course, is also waiting in the wings to face Davis. And while the Aggies lead the conference in pretty much every statistic, Chico has shown themselves able to tough it out in any conditions.

Chico State hosts Stanford this weekend, and should come away winners. San Francisco State plays San Jose State in a game to decide who gets to finish 8th. Fresno State, which saw a three-game winning streak snapped by Davis over the weekend, can perhaps put a stamp on taking 3rd (and thus avoiding Davis in the semis) with a win this weekend at UCSC, while Santa Cruz, if they beat Fresno, will be back in the playoff conversation.
