Jesuit Sacramento Runs Past Tourists Xavier
Sacramento Jesuit, ranked #12 among school teams by GRR, defeated Xavier 45-26 Friday night in what was the third game of Xavier's Spring Break tour of Northern California.
Xavier beat East Palo Alto 45-24 earlier in the week and their 2nd side defeated SFGG's 2nds 53-0. Friday night then was the Big Jesuit Showdown and the hosts came away winners.
The teams were tight in the early going but after about 20 minutes Jesuit started to find some space.
"I was happy for ther kids to out a full game of running rugby together," said Jesuit Head Coach Andrew Acosta. "We haven't really trained all week, with guys out for Spring Break, but they showed up and played."
Fullback and captain Roanin Krieger stood out at outside center while TJ Pappas scored three tries for the Marauders. This was Jesuit's first game in over a month.
"It has been a challenging season," said Acosta. "But it was great to host a team on tour again."
