Jesuit Sacramento Logs Win in Fresno
Jesuit Sacramento put in a pretty big score in defeating a tenacious San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno over the weekend.
An early start and a long drive didn't deter the Marauders as they scored in the first minute—captain Roanin Krieger intercepted a pass to score.
Jesuit showed some improved defense with captain AJ Blomquist and hooker Jagger Shaddix leading the way. Both Krieger and fulllback TJ Pappas scored three tries. Krieger hit six conversions as well to log 27 points on his own.
Fletcher Popp at flyhalf was outstanding and No. 8 George Hemmen was probably Jesuit's best forward. Jesuit won 52-7.
“All credit to Memorial for hosting us and helping to grow the single school game in California,” said Jesuit Head Coach Andrew Acosta. “It was a well contested game that allowed every player to get valuable game time and Memorial never quit for 70 minutes.”
Jesuit has a bye next weekend and will host De La Salle on February 19. De La Salle won 28-3 over Mother Lode over the weekend. Meanwhile, another Northern California team logged a win with SFGG taking on Washington-based Eastside Lions and winning 34-13.
Much of Northern California will be in action the coming weekend.
