Dartmouth is back in front in the Ivy League, albeit by points difference, after the Big Green defeated a solid Yale team 49-5.

The result was a big one after some humbling non-conference results for Dartmouth.

“We’re in good shape,” said Dartmouth Head Coach Gavin Hickie.  “We graduated some seniors and we lost a couple of guys due to injury. But this year’s senior class was my freshman class when I started coaching here. They are coming together. Against Navy and BC we learned a lot about ourselves. I didn’t think the points differential would be so big against us, but we learned a to, and started to execute our game plan against Cornell.”

That turned into a win over Cornell and then one over Yale. They are starting to play as a team, said Hickie.

“I am thrilled with the way they played, but we can’t get carried away,” said Hickie.

Back rower Hayden Aldredge is back from injury and playing well, while the rest of the loose forwards, Jack Braun and Erik Warnquist, have been outstanding. Senior wing Ryan Maquire, part of the leadership group with Braun and Warnquist, is back from a series of injuries and playing well.

Warnquist, Christopher Nikoy, and Steven Hinshaw scored tries for Dartmouth, while the always speedy John Abraham and Andrew Zhu scored two each.

Also in the Ivy League, Brown came back from 15-3 down with tries from Henry Richardson and Calum McClelland to tie Princeton 15-15.

That was good enough to put Brown in 3rd behind Dartmouth and Harvard. Dartmouth faces Brown next week, but we will have to wait until November 14 before Dartmouth and Harvard face off.
