It's Life vs Lindenwood Once More in D1 Elite
It will be Life vs Lindenwood in the Women's D1 Elite collegiate final yet again.
Life beat Central Washington 28-3. It took a while for the Running Eagles to get their pace up, It wasn't until past the midway point of the first half that Life took the lead—an early CWU penalty goal put the Wildcats ahead.
Adrionna Duncan's try made it 5-3 and Nina Mason's conversion made it 7-3.
Life tried to play in the CWU end using Mason's kicking ability to get them there. Overall, Central Washington handled the kicking game well and the 7-3 scoreline held up through to halftime.
But just a few minutes into the second half Life got a penalty and took the lineout inside the CWU 22. They mauled it, and while the Wildcats held they were able to work it to freshman Lissa Salisbury to make it, with Mason's conversion, 14-3.
CWU had scoring opportunities but the Life defense held. with less than 15 minutes to go CWU was penalized on a scrum near their line and Matilda Kocaj, playing No. 8 at this point, tapped quickly and was over. Mason was once again good on the kick.
Late in the game a worrying injury to one of the CWU players delayed the game for a significant period of time while emergency services came in. After the teams returned to the game a multi-player break finished off by Alle English made it 26-3, and Mason slotted her fourth conversion to cap off the victory.
Meanwhile, Lindenwood defeated BYU 75-12 in their semifinal.
The Lions have been very good all season but they have lost to Life this year in D1 Elite action.
Saturday they were in control over a very good BYU side to make the final yet again.
This will be the 6th straight time Lindenwood and Life have met in the D1 Elite final. That streak dates back to the spring of 2018 (no final was played in 2020 due to COVID). Lindenwood has won all five previous championship match meetings between the two.
This year's final will be played during the weekend of May 4-5 in Houston, Texas as part of the CRAA finals weekend.
