Intriguing College Games This Weekend

It’s a fairly quiet weekend on the DI Men’s college rugby circuit, but the few games on tap are compelling.

In DIAA, Missouri has to keep the train going if they want to track down Arkansas eventually. This week it’s Truman State, a game they are favored to win. The Pacific Western conference has a hugely important game going, with Sacramento State at Nevada. Both teams have some exciting young players who are coming up. Sac State freshman fullback Jake Teafatiller is coming into his own, and teams are finding out that they kick to him at their Meanwhile UNR Head Coach Nelo Lui has put his youngsters up in the tight five, and the result has been impressive. The winner of this game will come close to wrapping up a home semifinal game. Sac State is 4-2, UNR is 4-1.

In DIA, Life can clinch the Mid-South with a win at Lindenwood. The Running Eagles have web awesome this spring, beating Arkansas State, Lindenwood, Davenport, and others by fairly large margins. Only Navy has come close.

Meanwhile,  Dartmouth, Navy, and St. Mary’s are overseas. Other teams are traveling within North America. Cal goes to Vancouver for their second leg against UBC. UBC leads the two-game series 23 points to 21, so there’s basically nothing in it. The closeness of February’s game in Berkeley was something of a surprise, but the Bears have shown themselves to be enormously tenacious in difficult circumstances.

West Point travels to Utah to play BYU (tonight at 7pm Mountain Time - see here to watch) and Utah on Saturday. For Army, this is a chance to put aside the difficult end of the fall and prepare for the Army-Navy game and some postseason success.
