Already the HS slate of games is expanding and this is a really interesting upcoming week.
Next week Cathedral Catholic, the seeming front-runner of SCIRF, will play Torrey Pines, the seeming front-runner of SoCal's School League. That's a very early top-ranking matchup and one we wouldn't have seen in previous years. A slight detente has been achieved between the two organizations allowing some friendly matches between the two sides. For a few years there has been some debate about which league is stronger—well we might have some fuel to this argument next week.
And also coming up it the Storer Classic. Here we will see the first run-out for a couple of SoCal clubs (Belmont Shore, SOC Raptors) plus Orange Lutheran will test themselves against some tough club opposition.
"We have been working a lot on establishing our team culture this off season and it's really starting to show," said Orange Lutheran Head Coach Jay Harris. "We have a long way to go, but so far I’ve been very impressed with the boys' attitude and desire to keep working hard."
NorCal clubs Motherlode, Marin, and Danville return to the tournament, while LCA and Brighton come in from Utah.
Florida kicks off some preseason games. For rankings, these games will have to be taken with a grain of salt as they are preseason, meaning we'd expect things like open subs and mixed-up lineups. But we'll list the games anyway.
