Twenty-six younger girls teams are set to compete at the NAI 7s with two very robust brackets—U16s and U14s.
The U16s will see an almighty clash between Majestics, which has had a massive season at the U18 level and has plenty of talent at U16 as well, and Belmont Shore.
Majestics won the Tropical 7s U18s. Belmont Shore came 2nd at the National Sevens Youth Championships. Majestics also won the national club championships in 15s.
Majestics Looks for More Hardware at NAI 7s
They aren't the only ones.
California Grizzlies, Pioneer, SacPal, and Atlantis are all teams with talent and a good understanding of how to play 7s. Hawkeyes were very close in the National Youth Sevens and won Tropical 7s at the U16 level, so if they can piece one or two things together they might be raising a trophy. A dark horse could well be the Lakewood Lady Patriots, who are made up of talent from the Cleveland area with a heavy influence from a very good St. Joseph's Acadeny program.
At the U14 level, once again Atlantis is there and so is SacPal and Belmont Shore. But Monarch, Los Al Tribe, Hawkeyes, and especially Utah Cannibals are waiting.
Pool Games to Watch
There is always an early game that, in retrospect, become important after the fact. Before the fact, California Grizzlies vs Belmont Shore or SacPal vs Pioneer, both games at 10:20AM on Friday, could give us an idea of where those teams are going in the U16 bracket.
Among the U14s Belmont Shore vs SacPal at 1:20 or Los Al vs Haweyes at 2:40PM.
