Belmont Shore Youth Rugby has been invited to the Global Youth 7s to be held in December in Auckland, New Zealand.
Both the U18 Boys and U18 Girls teams, which have enjoyed significant success these past few years, will compete.
This is an invitation only tournament. It used to be called the World Youth Rugby 7s and in that incarnation the USA HS All Americans competed in 2019. But this time it's Belmont Shore being invited and they are the first club invited from the USA.
"It's a big deal for us," said Senior Youth Head Coach Johnny Pua. "This is also a good opportunity to gauge our level of play with the international teams."
The Belmont Shore teams will depart for New Zealand probably December 9 as they will arrive in New Zealand on December 10. That will give them four days to acclimate and prepare in-country.
The competition will be December 15 to December 17.
