Gamebreakers Men's D2 College Rugby This Week
We got some massive performances as the conference playoffs arrived.
Sorry for the lack of photos.
Here are our Men's D2 College Gamebreakers.
Eric Jones, Illinois State
One of the best defensive players on the ISU team, Jones has also stepped up as their set piece and offensive structure coach, helping Illinois State beat Marquette to make the Great Midwest final.
Enrique Pesantez, Marist
The co-captain, inside center, and offensive lead scored two tries as Marist defeated Seton Hall to make the Tri-State final.
Damir Conci, Principia
The Principia flyhalf pulled the strings on two huge wins in the Gateway playoffs, and kept the team cool after they got a red card 15 minutes into Sunday’s final. It was his try that opened the scoring in that game and helps spark the Thunder Chickens to a conference championiship.
Jared Elder, Northern Iowa
Elder scored the opening try in a win over UW-Whitewater in the Great Midwest semis, and his constant linebreaks throughout the game helped carry UNI to a victory.
Luke Grover, Bucknell
The senior hooker was a defensive powerhouse and added a try as Bucknell beat Shippensburg.
Jackson North, UNC Charlotte
In a tight, defensive battle in the Southern Conference playoffs, North, playing flanker, logged 25 tackles as Charlotte shut down UNC Chapel Hill to make the conference final.
DJ Martin, Minnesota Duluth
The Bulldogs’ No. 8 led from the front and also helped organize the defensive front as Duluth held off MSU Mankato in the Northern Lights conference final. His ability to make things happen in every aspect of play was huge for Duluth.
Jack Farrar, RPI
The RPI scrumhalf scored a key try in the second half and then added to that with a try in overtime to take the Engineers past the US Merchant Marine Academy in the Tri-State semifinals.
