Gamebreakers Men's D1 College September 17-19
Throughout Men's D1 College we saw some strong performances as teams get back on the field; here are a few.
This week's Gamebreakers:
Vince Carso, Ohio State
In a losing effort (33-31), Carso was a sparkplug for Ohio State and scored a brilliant try to boot.
Dan Ahern, Binghamton
The rookie lock got the hard yards, often as crucial moments to get his team out of trouble, in a 27-22 defeat of Buffalo.
Cole Rinklin, Clemson
Rinklin paced the Tigers with four tries against Alabama.
Peter Stokes, UConn
The Huskies flyhalf scored 18 points against UMass on a try, two conversions, and three penalty goals. Not only that, he's also the club president.
Matthew Conroy, St. Bonaventure
The flanker was an outstanding defensive presence in a tight loss to Navy.
Tyler Ricciardello, Nazareth
With his team down 17-13 and time up on the clock, Ricciardello scored a try at the death to beat Oswego 18-17.
Tobey Barnfield-Lee, Lloyd Stephens, Mary Washington
In a big-scoring game the two flankers were critical on defense as Mary Washington shut out NC State.
Chris Reithmeier, Louisville
The Cardinals inside center made five line breaks and scored three tries as Louisville defeated Dayton.
Brendan McCarthy, Mount St. Mary's
The senior flanker was big on forcing turnovers, doing the classic flanker's job brilliantly in MSM's win over Virginia Tech.
Raphael Lansonneur, Brown
The sophomore flyhalf was very effective in controlling the pace of the game, a victory over Fordham, and his ability to kick for territory and for points helped him and Brown keep the momentum throughout.
Will Chevalier, Indiana
The IU fullback displayed an adventurous spirit and adjusted nicely to the conditions to spark Indiana to a comeback 33-31 win over Ohio State.
Matthew De Villiers, Davenport
Very effective in the line and on counter in win over Notre Dame College
DJ Griffin, Illinois
With Wisconsin threatening to inch closer, the Illini wing Griffin scored two tries within five minutes of each other just the other side of halftime to ice the game.
Brandon Reid, Air Force
Playing his first ever game of rugby, the Zoomies wing scored two tries in a defeat of Wyoming.
Liam Hannah, Syracuse
Playing his first game as captain of the Orangemen, Hannah led a somewhat new-look Syracuse team to a win over Brockport.
Kealiiholookoa Maruyama, Utah Valley University
The Wolverines flyhalf scores 18 points on two tries and four conversions and assisted in a few other scores as he orchestrated UVU's 50-5 defeat of Utah State.
Andrew Packard, University Notre Dame
Chasing down kicks, making some key defensive players, and attacking with enthusiasm, Packard was an exciting threat all evening on the wing for Notre Dame against Purdue.
