Gamebreakers - DII College Men
Gamebreakers - DII College Men
This fall we at Goff Rugby Report bring back a feature we started in the spring for high-schoolers - Gamebreakers. This feature highlights key individual controbutions by players around the country.
This is our Men's DII College edition. If you think someone needs to be recognized as a Gamebreaker, let us know.
Alex Quinn
Alex Quinn, openside flanker for Lindenwood-Belleville in their win over Illinois State. While Nick O’Brien and Anthony Ferrera have been the try-scorers for the Lynx back row, Quinn has been the defensive leader and (despite the photo above of him carrying the ball) doing the dirty, unheralded work.
Alex Clegg
Scrumhalf Alex Clegg scored a key early try and played solidly at the #9 position to pace a win by UNC-Wilmington in their win over The Citadel.
Kurt Ryan
Kurt Ryan scored four tries for Oakland University as they shut out Ferris State 59-0.
Julie Tavarez
Flanker Julio Tavarez was a defensive specialist for Rhode Island in their 22-20 defeat of New Hampshire.
Tyler Russell
SUNY Cortland was worried about inside center this season but Tyler Russell had an impressive game against Ithaca and looks to have secured the #12 jersey for the Red Dragons.
John Tacione
John Tascione made several huge tackles for Bentley against Bryant, and also forced the turnover at the Bentley tryline that ultimately led to his team scoring the winning try in a 12-5 nailbiter.
Scott Jones
Scott Jones scored three tries for Molloy in their win over NJIT, and also converted a key penalty goal as Molloy moved to 2-0.
