Gamebreakers D2 Men College This Week
Close games and big wins for the past weekend in men's DII college rugby.
Here are our Gamebreakers for the week.
Ian Hibbert, Northern Iowa
In a huge win over Illinois State, Hibbert played wing, made some key attacking runs, and was also strong defensively.
Keegan Bliss, Vermont
The hard-charging UVM center helped lead a solid defensive effort and was at the center of Vermont’s attacking success in a game against UMass-Lowell that went into overtime. This game was officially a tie, but in OT Bliss kicked a long-range penalty to unofficially win the game.
Zack Fultz, USMMA
In a close loss to Marist, Fultz, playing at hooker, was outstanding throughout, making ground, working well in the set piece, and covering a lot of ground of defense.
Charlie Mays, Central Missouri
UCM’s forward pack helped lead them to a huge win over Southern Nazarene and Mays led the charge until he had to leave with an injury. By then he’d done enough to help his team to a victory.
Adam Oukani, UMass Lowell
The River Hawks lock was a physical force and put in a massive shift for UMass Lowell in their officially-tied game with Vermont.
Leo Clayburgh, Norwich
In Norwich’s impressive victory over Coast Guard, Clayburgh scored two tries and kicked seven conversions to pace the Cadets.
Enrique Pesantez, Marist
The Marist center was defensively strong and scored a try as Marist beat the US Merchant Marine Academy.
Alex Smith, GVSU
The Grand Valley State flanker has a high work rate and gets the job done for the Lakers on defense and in the breakdown.
Quinn Zebrowski, Georgetown
The Freshman center was an attacking threat and was named player of the game in the Hoyas’ shutout win over UMBC
