Florida State opened up their Florida D1AA season with an impressive 33-14 win over Central Florida.
On a windy day the breeze had a distinct effect on field possession for the teams, nd FSU handled it a little bit better.
"Typically UCF gets better through the season and they are a good team; we expect them to be improved later on," said FSU Head Coach Michael Gomez.
UCF put a lot of pressure on Florida State and in fact charged down at least four kicks, two on the same sequence. However, the Seminoles showed plenty of tenacity in not allowing those charge-downs to be converted into points.
"We managed to get out of it," said Gomez. "We have a number of guys with experience, even our younger players, and that really helped us."
