Finalists Confirmed for MA Sorensen Award
After voting from the MA Sorensen Award panel, college rugby teams around the country, and college rugby fans, the finalists for the MA Sorensen Award have been confirmed.
Four finalists have been selected, and now the MA Sorensen Panel will vote to select the top women's collegiate player in the USA.
Here are the four finalists:
Susan Adegoke, Life University
The speedy and physical wing/fullback for the Running Eagles, Adegoke led Life to the D1 Elite final and also to victory at the Tropical 7s. Part of the USA Rugby High Performance group, The Brooklyn, NY native has been consistently among the most dangerous attacking players in women's college rugby, and she also plays excellent defense.
Richelle Stephens, Lindenwood University
The Lindenwood flyhalf has run college rugby's most potent offense. A starter on every championship team at Lindenwood and an excellent leader, The Fallbrook HS product is a field general with an excellent understanding of the game, kicks superbly, and gets work done all over the field in a multitude of ways.
Kathryn Stowers, BYU
The former HS All American who played for the Lady Stallions in Uatah in high school, Stowers returned from her LDS Mission to step right into a starring role for the Cougars. Excellent in open play and in the breakdowns, Stowers has become a leader as well.
Keia Mae Sagapolu, Central Washington.
A powerful scrummager and hard-charging ballcarrier, this prop who played her HS rugby in Washington state, is more than just the platform for CWU's attack. She is a massive rucker, has excellent ball skills, and is also outstanding in the classroom.
