The CRAA U19s capped off an undefeated run in the RAN u19 Championships, beating Jamaica 52-5 in the final to secure another championship for a USA-representing side.
The CRAA had come into the game 4-0 but were a little frustrated with games in which they hand't maintained their quality of play throughout the match.
This was a hard-hitting game and certainly Jamaica was hoping to throw the Americans off their game with their physicality.
The Crocs put CRAA under pressure early but a high-tackle penalty against the Jamaicans set up a lineout and maul. In fact starting center Cole Eversole was injured on the play and had to be replaced.
CRAA ran a smart maul and after Sam Bosco popped off the back to get close, No. 8 Flynn O'Connell picked up and was over.
That made it 5-0. Jamaica spent a good bit of time in the CRAA half but the Americans were able to defend well and thanks to Abe Antrobus were able to run out of trouble. From there they spun it wide and Wayne State back Blayton Guy, in as the replacement for Eversole, was over for the try.
Soon it was 19-0 when the Crocs fumbled the ball trying to run out of their 22. The ball was snapped up and Jacob Gandy ran in under the posts.
But that period of substandard play did creep in a bit at the end of the first half. The CRAA team started committing penalties, most of which were avoidable. In the end, Jamaica set up to kick for touch, then opted to tap and send the ball wide, where Ruben Flynn dove in at the corner.
