The Men’s Eagles Sevens roster for USA Sevens has been announced.

Fresh from a Plate Semifinal appearance at Wellington Sevens less than a week ago, the Eagles have made one change for the upcoming fifth round of the 2014-15 World Rugby HSBC Sevens World Series. As planned, newcomer Ahmad Harajly is replaced by Pat Blair, who will appear in his seventh career tournament on the circuit Feb. 13-15.

Harajly will still be in Las Vegas earning match experience with the Falcons, who are in the Las Vegas Invitational’s Men’s Elite 7s division in a pool with Cayman Islands, Elite Selects 1, and Laie Lions.

The Eagles defeated Japan, 40-5, in their first match at Wellington Sevens to set the tone for their performances throughout the tournament. A win against France, who gave South Africa its only loss of pool play, was followed by three tough defeats to the Blitzbokke, fourth-place Scotland, and Plate-winner Fiji.

“Each game will be very difficult to win so we don’t take anything for granted and treat all games the same,” Friday said. “As such we will focus solely on trying to perform in game one versus Japan and once that is done we will move on to game two.

“This pitch is narrow and restricts the way in which you can play, which can act as a great leveler, so we have to be on the money from the first minute.”

By reaching the Plate Semifinal, the Eagles gained 10 points at Wellington Sevens to move up to eighth in the Series standings with a total of 36 points. Since the 2009-10 Series, the Eagles have not held more than 18 points after the first four rounds. The 2012-13 Eagles finished the season with an all-time high 73 points, while Friday’s team is guaranteed to reach last year’s season total of 41.
