Eagles Name Lineup to Face Hong Kong
USA Men's 15 Head Coach Gary Gold has named his lineup to face Hong Kong Saturday.
Gold has made a series of changes, most of which are bringing in overseas-based players. Despite scoring three tries against Kenya, hooker Dylan Fawsitt makes way for Saracens #2 Kapeli Pifeleti. Newcastle lock comes in for Greg Peterson comes in for CC Mahoni, Saracens scrumhalf Ruben De Haas replaces Ryan Rees, Bristol flyhalf AJ MacGinty is in for flyhalf Luke Carty and also takes on the captain's mantle.
The rest of the backline remains unchanged, while all of the players losing starting positions are on the reserves bench.
Gold said the short week of training has been a good one and the mood in camp has been good, but he has also been managing the heat in D.ubai
"It's not too bad but we are keeping sessions short and sharp the manage the heat," said Gold. "It's been a great training week so far, coming off a win is always a positive and with five new guys joining the USA Eagle ranks, team culture and pride in the squad is excitingly high."
Gold added that while there were some things to work on—discipline and some small miscues in the mauls—there were some things to be happy about, too.
“The first match against Kenya was a good marker for us," Gold said. "I think we came out of the gate a little scattered for the first 20 odd minutes, but I’m happy with the composure we built going forward from there. We’ve gone through our analysis this week, both on Hong Kong but more so on our own systems and training sessions. Improving discipline and keeping the offensive pressure against Hong Kong will be key as we progress and hope to keep ourselves at the top of the points table."
USA kicks off against Hong Kong on Saturday, Nov 12. Kickoff is 9:30AM Eastern Time (6:30PM Dubai Time). The game will be shown live for North American fans on The Rugby Network here>>
