The USA Men's 7s team lost to Kenya 19-12 in the Challenge Cup semis (what used to be the Bowl semis) of the Wellington 7s.
Perry Baker got a first-half try, but Kenya controlled much of the match, and the Eagles only added to that score late in the game after they were down 19-7 - Madison Hughes scored the second try.
For the USA, it was a somewhat frustrating trip to Wellington. They were hit with injuries - losing Brett Thompson and seeing Martin Iosefo leave the Japan game hurt. However, Iosefo did return for the Kenya game. Little errors put the USA under pressure all during the tournament, and they only really had control of one game - their 24-12 win over Samoa. They tied France in a game where they were very fortunate not to lose, lost competitively to New Zealand, had to come back against a poor Japan team, and then lost to Kenya.
