Eagle Men's Home Venues Announced
LAFAYETTE, CO. - Home venues have been announced for the USA Men’s National 15s Team's opening three matches of the Americas Rugby Championship 2020. All three matches will be featured LIVE on florugby.com and ticket information will soon be available. Registration for exclusive pre-sale opportunities are now available here.
The Eagles will play one match in Colorado and two in Texas at the following locations:
August 15 vs Canada at Infinity Park, Glendale, CO
August 21 vs Chile at Bold Stadium, Austin, TX
August 29 vs Uruguay at Aveva Stadium, Houston, TX
Known as RugbyTown USA, Infinity Park at Glendale continues to be the premier home for rugby in Colorado and is host to a number of professional rugby events every year. The venue is home to the Colorado Raptors of Major League Rugby, Glendale Merlins of the Women’s Premier League and also the opening women’s round of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series each October.
Bold Stadium lives at Circuit of the Americas and is home to the Austin Gilgronis of Major League Rugby, Austin Bold F.C. of the United Soccer League and the only Formula One Grand Prix in the USA.
Aveva Stadium and the city of Houston are both rooted in rugby as the venue was opened in March of 2019 as a dedicated home for the Houston SaberCats of MLR. Houston itself still buzzes from a lasting mark left by the Eagles when they defeated then-No. 6 Scotland in 2018.
“We’re looking forward to starting our Americas Rugby Championship campaign at home this year. No doubt that these are three fantastic cities and stadiums for us to lay a foundation for what we hope to be a successful tournament," said USA Head Coach Gary Gold. “Home matches are always vitally important from a team perspective as the energy and support from our U.S. fans creates exactly the kind of atmosphere we want to play in. Thanks to the growth of Major League Rugby and what we expect to be another fantastic season for the domestic league, these games will certainly keep the appetite for rugby thriving in the states.”
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with USA Rugby again to bring the ARC to MLR markets," said Major League Rugby Commissioner George Killebrew. "The host stadiums are top-notch facilities and will give MLR and USA Rugby fans what they want - another opportunity to see their favorite players on the international stage.”
As all three matches serve as the opening rounds of the Americas Rugby Championship which means each one has a significant impact on tournament rankings. The USA will face both Brazil and Argentina XV in their respective countries for the final two games on September 5 and 12.
