Doylestown continues their excellent run of form with a victory over perhaps their toughest competition in Pennsylvania, Gregory the Great.

GGA was coming off comfortable league wins over La Calle College HS and Conestoga, which followed on from their preseason victory over Gonzaga. For Doylestown, wins over Fort Hunt, Xavier HS, and Charlotte Tigers (plus a loss to the Charlotte Cardinals) led them into a league victory over Malvern Prep.

So the understanding was that both of these teams were quite strong, and the game itself bore that out.

GGA caught the opening kickoff and their strong running bumped off several Doylestown tacklers before they consolidated near the goal line and punched it over for a 7-0 lead barely two minutes in.

But Doylestown rebounded from that fairly well, scoring two tries and a penalty goal with their possession-control game at the forefront.

Gregory the Great answered with a try, and Doylestown scored again to make it 24-14 at halftime.

Improved defense and ball control from Doylestown, along with the fact that tackling their power runners phase after phase can wear a person down, led to Doylestown extending their lead. Three tries later it was 43-14, and while Greg's notched a try late, it was Doylestown's day.

Liam Hoey scored two tries for Doylestown on his way to being Man of the Match, and Jamie Weir added 13 points from the boot, going 6-for-7 on the day.
Hunter Pulford, Louie Cipollo, Alex Sukis, and Aaron Kelly all touched down for Doylestown.

Also in Pennsylvania's D1, St. Joseph's Prep defeated Malvern Prep 51-5 to improve to 1-1.

So far in PA, here are the rough standings:

Doylestown 2-0
Gregory the Great 2-1
La Salle 1-1
St. Joe's 1-1
Conestoga 0-2
Malvern Prep 0-3
