DIAA Western Playoffs Bracket Set for This Weekend
DIAA Western Playoffs Bracket Set for This Weekend
The DIAA Western Bracket playoffs kick off in Bellingham, Wash. Saturday and after that's all done we'll have a finalist.
Kansas awaits the winner of the Western Bracket and then we'll have yet another DIAA champion.
Western Washington has already vaulted itself into the favorites conversation with a defeat of University of San Diego in late March.
Western Washington Defeats USD on Tour
Fortunately that matchup isn't repeated on Saturday, as WWU instead takes on Sacramento State. USD, meanwhile, has to get by Fresno State.
At present, Fresno State is the favorite. Having won all of their league games by massive margins they might potentially be vulnerable to a defensive-minded team that gets under their skin. Head Coach Patrick Quan said his team won't worry about the score as long as they are ahead.
"This is new territory for Fresno State," said Quan. "Just when the program started making progress the pandemic hit, so this our first time at the regionals. We just need to trust our system an play what is in front of us. We are expecting the toughest competition we have had thus far and respect every program participating."
