DIAA Gamebreakers This Week
It was a somewhat quiet weekend in DIAA, but these players made some noise.
Maaveave Petaia, University of Washington
Former center and now flanker Petaia scored two tries in a huge win over Oregon State.
Tinotenda Vheriwa, Florida International
Playing outside center for FIU, Vheriwa scored five tries in 47 minutes of play as FIU beat Florida Gulf Coast 63-22.
Connor Mackie, Sam Houston State
the SHSU No. 8 is the clearout man. He has embraced the somewhat unglamorous job of getting defenders out of the ruck and keeping possession going. He set the platform in Sam Houston’s 35-10 win over University of Houston.
Dominic Scarpino and Gwyn Watkin, Oregon
The scrumhalf and flyhalf for the Ducks, respectively, Scarpino and Watkin kept the tempo going and worked the attack nicely in a very tough 18-12 win for Oregon over Western Washington. That game clinched 1st in the NCRC Pool A and ensured a home game for the upcoming playoffs.
Carson Shoemaker, Arizona State
No 8 scored two tries and was a powerhouse with ball in hand.
