The top teams were very much the top teams on Day One of the Netional Youth Sevens Rugby Championships Friday in North Canton, Ohio.
On a day of 30 7s games, 12 were decided by 30 points or more, which is a lot. And for the teams that started off rough, the final round of games were very difficult, and five of the last six games of the day were decided by 30 or more.
In the U16 bracket, the Panther Rugby Academy and Gorilla were outstanding, winning all three of their games and hardly being scored upon. Panther, in fact, shut out their first two opponents but were tested by Pasefika in their final game. Gorilla was was explosive, but so was Atlantis, who led the bracket in points scored. Still they had to battle against The Woodlands and Atlantis to get to 3-0.
