Dana Hills and High Tech High/Pt. Loma remain atop the Los Angeles and San Diego conferences, respectively, in the Southern California Varsity White division after both teams won big this weekend.

Dana Hills moved to 5-0 after beating a shorthanded Stern MASS team. This game might end up being a forfeit, as it was played 12-on-12. The teams were tied at halftime but Dana Hills exploded for seven tries in the second half. Jaxon Breckenridge was player of the game, leading the team in tackles and meters gained, while Anton Gregoriou paced the team with two tries and six conversions for 22 points. Derek Dixon, Calvin Brannon, Jacob Paxton, Sam Elliott, Mark Stapley, Christian Cortez, and Jordan Pouchie all scored for Dana Hills.

Mira Costa was able to gain some ground on Stern, but maybe not as much as they wanted, as they tied a tenacious St. John Bosco squad 26-26. Mira Costa was up 26-5 but gave up three tries in the final 20 minutes to have the game tied. Still, with a bonus point for four tries, along with the two points for the tie, Mira Costa took full possession of 2nd place, with St. John moving into 3rd.

In the San Diego conference, the clash of the two undefeated teams at the top proved to be fairly one-sided, as High Tech High/Pt. Loma hammered San Pasqual 43-7.

"We gave up an astounding number of turnovers," lamented HTH/Pt. Loma Head Coach David Barnes. "That kind of stifled our attack. But we were able to keep our shape on defense. We were just a bit too amped up at the beginning. There's a fine line between being excited for a game and going too far."

Flanker Jacob Rozar was central to the HTH defensive effort.

With the victory, HTH/Pt. Loma is secure in 1st place. Also in San Diego, Rancho Bernardo won a wild one over Mission Vista 46-31.

Inland leaders Citrus Valley were idle this weekend.
