NCR's D1 enters conference playoff season for the Big Rivers and Big 10, but the other conferences are finishing up things, too.

We have separated out the list for the Big 10 semifinals and 5th-place semifinals because that conference mixes up NCR and CRAA teams. However, this year, the top teams are pursuing the NCR fall postseason, with Notre Dame and Indiana winning their pools and the other two cup semifinalists being Wisconsin and Michigan. All four are NCR teams.

This is a very good Notre Dame side and GRR saw them in person at the beginning of the year, when they were a little undercooked and still pushed Walsh in Canton. They are also fairly young, and will get better.

Indiana has always been dynamic but Head Coach Luke Gross won't let a team get away with lacking unity or being unwilling to do the dirty work. That's a good combination.

Big Rivers is also into its semifinals with Thomas More favored against a Iowa Central team that has, to be fair, pushed themselves through a steep improvement curve. This might be the best Marian side in recent years but Aquinas, despite their youth, can score in bunches. George Kilsby has been a big finisher for them, but Head Coach Lance Hohaia has been getting his freshmen up to speed quickly.

And in the ARC it's not playoff time yet, but we don't know the matchups. These last two games tell us all.

As for D1A, the chase in the Big 10 is for 5th with Ohio State and Illinois probably favored to make that final.

Eyes turn now to the Midwest Conference, which opens up seeing Arkansas State at Davenport and Lindenwood at McKendree. The ASU-Davenport game is always a difficult one to predict. Lindenwood is favored over McKendree, but the Bearkats are getting better with each game.

Penn State's cross-org clash with top Liberty side St. Bonaventure should be an interesting on. Bonnies has been on a roll. Army travels to Colorado to face Air Force in the opening game of the Commander-in-Chief Trophy series. Meanwhile, two other Colorado teams, CU and CSU, have out-of-state opponents. CSU hosts Santa Clara, and CU is at Grand Canyon.

This kind of crossover stuff is what gets teams ranked, and puts them in a better competitive position, too.

In-conference, Life plays Mount St. Mary's. Things have been fairly straightforward for Life so far, and hooker Adam Chadwick said there's been a bit of roster rotation as a result.

That shakes things up, Chadwick told GRR, but the upshot is "more of us know our roles and with Logan [Ballinger] as captain and a good leadership group we're coming together. We know Mount is going to be a good challenge and we're looking forward to it."

Check back for scores.
