D1 Women’s Spring Championship
BYU capped off a dominant run with a 37-10 defeat of Stanford in last weekend’s semifinals. In college games the Cougars have been able to play, they are now 7-1 with their only loss to D1 Elite Central Washington. Their average score is 67-8, and in D1 games it’s 74-3.
Virginia won the Eastern semifinal in a close one over Florida 14-12 over Florida 69-7. However, for the second-straight year UVA are not making the trip to the final. Last year Virginia Tech stepped in to replace them. This year, the main reason is finances.
Said longtime Head Coach Nancy Kechner: “the team decided not to do a fundraising letter campaign this winter and now we’re facing the consequences.”
Kickoff Saturday, May 6, 12:05PM

Claremont Colleges is back to defend their title after beating Sacramento State 39-38 in a very entertaining semifinal. They will play a team that has a lot of mainstream media attention around it as Howard University is the first Historically Black College to be in a major collegiate rugby final.
Howard went unbeaten in the fall and defeated Appalachian State 43-26 to reach this final.
