CRAA D1AA Championship Coming Down to a Handful of Teams
We have just a handful of teams left in the chae for a CRAA D1AA title.
As we've mentioned before, Sam Houston State and Iowa State are already in the semifinals held during the CRAA Finals Weekend May 2-4 in Indianapolis.
The Florida Conference is decided through playoffs and the semifinal matchups are pretty much decided: South Florida at St. Thomas and Central Florida at Florida State. The final is set for April 12. St. Thomas is favored to win, but they could certainly be undercut by Florida State.
The West Coast team will be decided over the next few weeks. This week San Diego plays Arizona State but that just solidifies USD as the top team in the California Conference South. In California North, American River has the #1 seed sewn up and, after this last weekend's Fresno State win over Chico State, San Jose State is set to be the #2.
Those two teams will face off March 29 at ARC in Sacramento.
The winner of that game will play the winner of the California South. Most are banking on ARC vs San Diego, but SJSU will have something to say about that.
The winner of the California Conference still has a step to go.
That champion will face off with the NCRC champs. With a week left for the Vikings, and two games remaining for Boise State, there is no guesswork here—WWU has already clinched the top spot.
NCRC D1AA | W | L | T | PF | PA | PD | BT | BL | Pts |
WWU | 6 | 1 | 0 | 245 | 77 | 168 | 6 | 1 | 31 |
Boise State | 4 | 2 | 0 | 147 | 163 | -16 | 3 | 0 | 19 |
Oregon State | 3 | 5 | 0 | 210 | 222 | -12 | 3 | 1 | 16 |
Washington | 3 | 4 | 0 | 120 | 170 | -50 | 2 | 1 | 15 |
Oregon | 2 | 6 | 0 | 96 | 186 | -90 | 0 | 2 | 10 |
Even if WWU loses to Boise State and Boise State also beats the University of Washington, the Vikes will win the league.
On April 19, WWU will host the California Conference champs in Bellingham, Wash. The winner of that game will be in Indy.
