Here is our third installment of the commits for college rugby this upcoming fall.
What is interesting to us is how different teams have different tactics in recruiting. It's noticeable that University of New Haven women and University of New England women both are recruiting heavily among athletes who do not play rugby in high school—track, field, soccer, volleyball, crossfit, field hockey, and other sports are all represented in their recruiting class.
That's an indication that these teams see an opportunity for the athletes, their program, and also the game. All of that is a good thing. Miami of Ohio men's team is changing conferences and they have been quite successful in recruiting a strong freshman class. St. Ignatius of Cleveland hosted a college showcase in February for a number of college teams, and players from all over Ohio (and further afield); Miami attended that and they ended up with several recruits from that showcase event.
