Meanwhile SFGG beat a solid Lamorinda team 29-19. With impressive performances from prop Liam Harrington, center Ellis Connelly, and wing Joe Fogerty, SFGG moved to 1-0.
Marin Highlanders defeated the San Mateo Wolverines 26-22. The Wolverines will be frustrated with having three balls held-up in-goal.
Marin scored first through a maul off the lineout followed by a skip pass and quick hands out for center Joe Whelan to go in at the corner.
The forwards ran the pick-and-go and scored up to iddle, taking the lead at 7-5.
Marin responded with some solid pod work. Hooker Miles Kelsey would run in from five out. Rocco Stagg's conversion made it 12-7. The Wolverines thundered up to score their second to tie the game at halftime 12-12.
Marin retook the lead early in the second half and a long skip pass from Stagg put center Joe Ayres in. Stagg converted and it was 19-12. They added to that with an interception try from Whelan, with Stagg's conversion making it 26-12.
The Wolverines stormed back with some impressive running with fullback King Ahovelo scoring two tries. But it was a little too late, and Marin held on 26-22.
Marin and SFGG join Granite Bay with five standings points. Danville is right behind them with four. It is, however, very early days in this league.
