The Chesapeake Conference in men's college rugby has finalized its Fall 2021 schedule.

The schedule is a reflection of some changes in the conference since it was founded in 2016. The conference then was started by college teams from the area of Maryland and Virginia that had become frustrated with a lack of regular competition—too many forfeits in their existing conferences led to DII, DIAA, and even small college teams to create their own conference.

Since its inception the Chesapeake has been the most competitive collegiate conference in the nation if you just that by how close the games are. The Chesapeake produces more close-loss bonus points than any other conference.

But there have been changes afoot, mainly due to the emergence of varsity and as-good-as-varsity programs. With Southern Virginia and Queens University Charlotte joining the conference, and Mary Washington returning after a rough stint in DIA,

As a result, James Madison, Georgetown, and Salisbury have switched conferences (Towson switched after the 2018 season). This leaves two varsity teams in Queen's and SVU, one as-good-as-varsity program in Mount St. Mary's, a well-supported club team in Mary Washington, and some more regular club teams in NC State, Maryland, and Virginia Tech.

(The Chesapeake will play under National Collegiate Rugby which identifies the conference as D1A Elite Cup. They competed as DIAA in previous years, but NCR has badically create a new designation to include the Chesapeake, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Ivy League.)
