Cal and UCLA both recorded victories in the PAC Rugby Conference Saturday.

Cal prop Kevin Sullivan scored two early tries to stake the Bears to a 12-0 lead over Arizona in Berkeley, Never a team to shy away form a plan that's working, the Bears sent Sullivan over for his third to make it 17-0. Fullback Troy Lockyear made it 22-0 at halftime.

Zach Biggs went over for Arizona's first try early in the second half, but freshman Sebastian Bader replied for Cal. Up 29-5, Cal got a fourth try from prop Sullivan, and then Drew Gaffney scored to make it 39-5 before a try from Arizona scrumhalf Matt Rogers. It was an impressive performance from Cal against a strong Arizona lineup.

UCLA, meanwhile, put up a similar score on the road against Arizona State. James Francis, Daniel Thomas, Christian Bernard, Connor Bercik, Andrew Alex, and Patrick French all scored tries for the Bruins, with Thomas adding four conversions. Kent Presson had a very strong day at flyhalf, testing small gaps in the ASU defense and, once he drew some attention, setting up Francis for some key runs.

UCLA and Cal move to 2-0.
