Brother Martin Makes a Move in Louisiana

In the lone Louisiana Rugby league game of the past weekend, the Brother Martin Crusaders moved to 2-0 with a 34-19 defeat of the NOLA Barbarians.

It was a hotly-contested game, and a good result for Brother Martin. Senior inside center Logan Neill  scored two tries, busting through tacklers to do it. Captain and No. 8 Cole Boudreaux led by example and was a force throughout. Scrumhalf Nick Gonsoulin kept the attack moving and score on a heads-up quick-tap.

With the victory, Brother Martin put themselves securely in 2nd place in the Louisiana Rugby conference. A very good NOLA Barbarians side is now 1-2, but that's after playing some tough opposition. The Barbarians play St. Paul's this coming weekend, and that's a must-win for both teams. Brother Martin, and league-leaders Jesuit New Orleans, both play non-league games against Tennessee-based Christian Brothers.

The team to watch for a late run is the defending state champion Bayou Hurricanes. The 'Canes play St. Paul's, Brother Martin, the Barbarians, and Jesuit in successive weeks starting March 11.
