Just about everyone in the upper reaches of our school rankings did what was expected.

St. Edward vs St. Ignatius was probably closer than a #2 vs a #14 should be, but not by much.

The big upset with regard to these rankings is Fordham Prep beating Rye. Greenwich, we think, could be higher than #11, but they are set to be in the National Championship tournament, and that gives them ample opportunity to move past the likes of Gregory the Great or St. Martin's.

The reason we have La Salette ranked below Xavier and Greenwich, while the National Championships seeded them higher is simple. We're somewhat locked in to results. La Salette lost to Dwenger in the Midwest Championship, and that keeps them behind Dwenger ... for now.

National Championship and state playoff games carry more weight as the season progresses, so a close loss like that can be put aside.

Overall, we do think La Salette and St. Edward have played had a stronger schedule, and will continue to do so. Xavier is ranked ahead of Greenwich because of a (very) early-season win. But that could change also.

So, ultimately, the rankings are poised for a shift.
