Should Herriman or St. Ignatius be #1?
Yes, they should. Or at least could be. Both teams did enough this past weekend to get to #1. But Torrey Pines are wrapping up their season in Southern California and have done what they needed to do, so far. Might they lose to St. Francis in the all-California final? Sure, they might, and St. Francis could argue for a #1 ranking—their problem is they did lose a couple of games, even though it was early in the season.
So there will be an almighty battle for #1 over the next few weeks.
We missed some early results and while those are tournament, shortened, or preseason games, they do matter.
But all of that is why SLUH and Bixby rejoin the Top 50. We had some teams move out, but we couldn't bring ourselves to drop out St. Augustine or Dallas Jesuit, so they remain, tied, at 50.
