If there is one thing that came out of this past weekend, it was that the top two HS clubs in the nation are the Charlotte Cardinals and the San Diego Mustangs.
Yes, true, this was based in part on one game for the Mustangs, a 55-14 defeat of Belmont Shore. And yes, true, the Cardinals were playing a series of 45-minute tournament games.
But the evidence remains clear. The Cardinals have played every contender—Doylestown, Okapi, Cavemen—and won comfortably. The Mustangs have started well. Is there anyone else who are as strong as these two?
SFGG might have an argument. Maybe.
Really, the next 15 to 20 teams are all very similar. The scores from the Friendship Cup (12-10, 14-7, 22-17, 8-5) indicate that.
