There is of course an argument as to who should be #1, but generally once we've settled on a #1, we need compelling evidence to knock them off.
Charlotte Cardinals have the Friendship Cup on the horizon, as do Cavemen (and several other ranked teams), so it seems smart to wait on them. San Diego Mustangs, frankly, did well enough to bump to #1, but we'll wait.
Friendship Cup, from a Single Match to a National Showcase>>
It'a pretty amazing to see everyone of on the top 16 who played (which is 13 of them) win a game, except Granite Bay, who lost to a very good De La Salle school team.
So the major movement comes further down the rankings, and here's what we have:
Red Mountain has trouble moving higher in the rankings because of their schedule, but a close loss to SOC Raptors does them a world of good.
For the San Mateo Wolverines, we had a strong suspicion that we would have to toss out their lopsided loss to the Charlotte Cardinals. We knew they were missing a lot of players due to those players being on their school teams, but how many, and what impact those players would have was a major question.
You can look at a team lineup from two weeks ago, and compare to this week's team, and see the difference. But when those players haven't joined the team, officially, yet ... you can't assume anything until they're there.
So those players joined the Wolverines, and, guess what? More experience, more age, more maturity, and San Mateo is stronger. No disrespect to those who pitched-up vs Charlotte, but they were not as experienced as the team the Wolverines have now.
So we throw out the Charlotte score, and, in addition, the loss to SacAir (more on that in a minute). Now it's for realie reals, and San Mateo's win over Lamorinda pushes them up 15 spots. We actually also move Lamo up, because the whole Charlotte-over-San Mateo result was having an effect on Northern California as a whole.
