Big Win for Scottsdale Wolves in Arizona
The Scottsdale Wolves put their hand up this weekend with an impressive 42-12 victory over Brophy Prep.
Scottsdale got off to a slow start on Saturday by conceding an early try right off the kickoff. But after that, led by captain Carter Hoffman, they scored four unanswered tries in the first half. Brady Cochran and Gethin Thomas carried the ball for a combined 13 times and gained 75 meters between them, and Cochran also notched a try. Cohen Chew was also strong in the midfield and he was able to sign his letter of intend to Drury University after the game.
Defensively Scottsdale held Brophy to just one try after that early score. Prop Logan Wakeland tallied an impressive 10 tackles.
Unfortunately the Wolves were also hit with a nasty injury as scrumhalf Patrick Balentine was carried off the field with a displaced patella. In his place Jack Markley stepped in to finish out the game and played well.
Scottsdale crossed the whitewash four more times in the second half with tries from winger Cameron Terry, lock Jack Miller, and two from center Martin Rennie. Brophy kept at it and scored a late try to close out the game.
"These are some of the most talented players I have had the privilege to coach," said Scottsdale Head Coach Elf Thomas. "I have high expectations for this coming season. It was a great team effort in the end and the boys thoroughly deserved the victory.
