The Global Youth Sevens Auckland, NZ event is set to kick off tonight USA time.

Three North American boys teams and three North American girls teams are slated for the U18 event.

The Barhaven Scottish team from Canada (Barhaven is a suburb of Ottawa, Ont.) have sent a boys team and Belmont Shore from Long Beach, Calif. have also sent a boys team as well as a girls team. Along with Belmont Shore and USA girls, Pasefika, a touring side from Hawai'i, joins the girls competition.

Seven pools of four teams are in the boys competition. The top two from each pool plus the two best third-place teams enter the knockout round of 16. Those first knockout games will be played on Day Two. Day Three will see the quarterfinals, semis, and final, with placement brackets as well. Teams that lose the Round of 16 play for the Plate. The next eight that don't make the Round of 16 play for the Bowl. The bottom four teams play for the Shield.

Six pools of four teams are in the girls competition, with the top two from each pool plus the best four third-place teams making the round of 16. The teams that lose the Round of 16 play for the Plate. The bottom eight play for the Bowl.
