Big Thursday Night Game in Rugby Northeast
Big Thursday Night Game in Rugby Northeast
In a rare midweek game in Men's DII college rugby, Roger Williams travels to Bentley tonight for a makeup game.
RWU and Bentley were supposed to clash on Saturday, but the game was rained out. With Roger Williams sitting at 3-0 and Bentley at 2-1, this game has big ramifications.
RWU Head Coach Chris Palombo said his team still needs to imporve.
"Offensively we need to be much smarter with the ball in contact," said Palombo. "Offloads during the tackle are leading to turnovers. We also need to improve on our ball placements once tackled. I am not satisfied with the number of poached balls or lost possession due to counter-rucks."
Waiting in the wings after this game will be Bryant, which beat Holy Cross last weekend to improve to 3-1. A Roger Williams loss would create a nice logjam at the top of the Rugby Northeast conference. Three teams would be at 3-1, with Southern Connecticut at 2-1. All four teams will also be in action this weekend, with SoConn at Bentley, Bryant at Stonehill, and Roger Williams hosting St. Michael's.
