Big Rivers Latest: Playoff Matchups Set

Marian's JD Farrell was a defensive force.

Principia is now 3-0 in the Big Rivers after beating Aquinas, and once again we have close and competitive games throughout this league.

Paced by tries from scrumhalf Tinashe Dobbie, hooker Ntando Sibanda, prop Emmanuel Atiko, and flanker Fran Alessio, the Thunder Chickens have clinched the best record in the conference heading into the playoffs. As a result they have a bye into the semifinals, while the other six play in the quarterfinal round.

Marian moved to 2-1 with a 26-22 defeat of Iowa Central CC. JD Farrell was a defensive terror for the Knights and also assisted on three of Marian's four tries.

Wheeling managed to get by Rio Grande in a game that was surprisingly close—the Cardinals took this one 22-18. It was a hugely improved performance for Rio Grande and they were close to getting a big upset.

So the Big Rivers standings look like this (unofficially):

Big Rivers East W L T PF PA PD BT BL Pts
Wheeling 2 0 0 58 40 18 1 0 9
Thomas More 1 1 0 74 57 17 1 0 5
Rio Grande 0 2 0 39 74 -35 1 0 1

Big Rivers West W L T PF PA PD BT BL Pts
