Milton HS and Boston College High will meet in the Massachusetts IAA final this coming week after both won semifinals in the last few days.

Milton opened June with a dramatic 29-24 win over St. John's Prep, scoring the game-winning try in overtime to advance to the final on June 11.

With a senior-heavy team that moves the ball well,, has a tough pack, and counters very well. Milton also leveraged their strong kicking game led by flyhalf Aidan Rowley. Captain and center Pat Collins led the way as well.

"Six of our Varsity players are also Gaelic Football stars, who are fun to watch," said Head Coach Joseph Dolan.

BC High, meanwhile, fell behind early 3-0 to Xaverian Brothers, but took the lead soon after with a nice break up the middle by flyhalf Conor Loughnane.

The Eagles added to that with a lineout play that put lock Will Dooley through for a try.

Dooley would score his second on a burst down the sideline after the Eagles rescued a slightly dicey situation, and they capped the half off with a powerful surge from prop Artem Pagliuca to make it 26-3.

BC High cruised from there to win 45-3 and book a spot in the final.

"The entire team did the dirty work across the board: hitting rucks, running support lines, making extra pass to spring a player, and of course defending," said BC High Head Coach Paul Carty. "We defended and tackled well, and that defense really fed our attack. It was great to see guys who are often unsung heroes [Dooley and Pagliuca] dot down tries."

This is a rematch of the 2021 final, and Carty is anticipating a tough match.

"Milton has got a good team," he said "They have some athletic forwards and a very good 10 who can kick from hand. We didn't get to play them in the regular season, so it will be fun to see a new team."

"We were expecting to see BC High in the final from Day 1," added DOlan. "It should be a back-and-forth match. BS High is solid in all aspects."

The final will be June 11 at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Quincy.
